Marine Shoreline Protection Assessment

Project Period:  2013 - 2014

Skagit Land Trust, in partnership with the Skagit County Marine Resources Committee, conducted a spatial analysis of Skagit County marine shorelines to identify marine shoreline reaches with both high conservation value and land protection potential. Identified reaches are important for maintaining or improving marine shoreline ecosystem processes and / or wildlife habitat. Important shoreline values include eroding bluffs or sediment source beaches, eelgrass beds, spawning beaches for forage fish, and shorelines that support estuaries.
