Fidalgo Bay Day
Fidalgo Bay Day
Project Leads: Skagit MRC members and Skagit MRC staff
Project Partners: Skagit County Public Works Natural Resources Division, Samish Indian Nation, Friends of the Salish Sea
Project Years: 2004 - 2025
Project Overview: Fidalgo Bay Day is Skagit MRC's signature annual educational event that has taken place each year since 2004. The event is held at the Samish Indian Nation's beautiful Fidalgo Bay Day resort in Anacortes and is supported by many environmental organizations, local businesses, and volunteers. Some of the event highlights include a beach seining demonstration, a touch tank aquarium, kid friendly craft activities, face painting, over 30 interactive educational booths hosted by local organizations, discovery passport stations with prizes (sponsored by the Friends of the Salish Sea), complimentary samples of seafood, and a traditional Coast Salish no-host Salmon BBQ lunch. The purpose of this free event is to increase public awareness of the marine environment and foster environmental stewardship.
Unfortunately, the Skagit MRC is unable to sponsor Fidalgo Bay Day in 2026 which means there will be no Fidalgo Bay Day this year unless another organization is able to take on the event. If your organization, or any partnership of organizations, is interested in taking over the event this year, please reach out to the Skagit MRC Coordinator for more information.
Fidalgo Bay Day has been a valuable environmental educational event for more than two decades, and we are very grateful to those who have attended and supported the event over the years.
